The Natural World in Focus
About Me
David – Wildlife and Landscape Photographer
Hi, I’m a wildlife and landscape photographer based in Cheshire, England, with a passion for capturing the beauty, character and diversity of the natural world.
My photography focuses on creating authentic and engaging images that reflect the atmosphere of a place and the behaviour of the wildlife that inhabits it. Whether photographing a dramatic landscape, a fleeting wildlife encounter or the subtle details often overlooked in nature, my aim is always to produce images that convey a genuine sense of connection with the natural environment.
Over the years, photography has taken me to a wide variety of locations both within the UK and overseas. These experiences have included photographing the Aurora Borealis and polar bears within the Arctic Circle, as well as wildlife and landscapes throughout Canada, Scandinavia, Central America and other regions of the world. Each destination has offered unique opportunities to observe and photograph nature in its many forms, helping to shape my photographic style and deepen my appreciation of the environments I visit.
While international travel has provided many memorable experiences, I remain equally passionate about photographing wildlife and landscapes closer to home. The British Isles offer an extraordinary variety of species, habitats and seasonal changes, and I continue to spend much of my time exploring and photographing the natural beauty found throughout the UK.
My Photography Journey
My interest in photography began at the age of fifteen when I borrowed my father’s Kodak Retina IIIb camera. What started as a fascination with the camera itself quickly developed into a lifelong passion for photography and the natural world.
Professionally, I worked within the print industry, where photography formed an important part of my role. During this time, I developed a strong technical understanding of photographic processes, composition, image quality and attention to detail—skills that continue to influence my work today.
Equipment
I photograph using professional Nikon equipment, which provides the reliability, performance and image quality required when working in often challenging wildlife and landscape environments. Combined with careful fieldcraft and preparation, it allows me to capture moments that may last only a fraction of a second.
Publications and Media Features
A selection of my photographs has been featured in national and international publications, including The Times, The Guardian, The Daily Star and Le Nouvel Observateur in France. I am grateful for the opportunity to have my work shared with wider audiences through these publications.
